a shero

My little sister is a hero, my shero ;-)

About two years ago, sis was diagnosed with brain cancer (a grade 4 astrocytoma). Six weeks later she underwent an awake craniotomy. Within a few hours of surgery, she was moving toes of her R foot (where she couldn’t beforehand). Her walking improved almost immediately. Radiation, chemotherapy, healing… she’s endured a long journey, to say the least. Her brain is scanned every 8 weeks; we are incredibly grateful for perfect reports.

The weekend of her craniotomy at Duke University in 2023 was the same weekend as the Angels Among Us 5K, a race to raise money for brain cancer research. She asked Stephanie (youngest, artistic, soulful sister) and I to run it. We said,… okay. That year it was just me and Steph. Last year, we went back with about 15 of our friends and family. This year, we’ll be there again!

  • If you’re interested in running with us, come on down. Join the team here, Strong Like Bull and contact me or a sister; we’ll plug you into the travel plans~

  • If you can’t make it to Durham but want to donate to the cause, awesome! Same link ^ takes you there.

Thank you for reading about my shero. xo
